HOLBOX

In Holbox, an transparent emerald sea with small waves and shallow warm waters awaits you, as well as a calm lagoon such as those of Punta Cocos. Here you will have a memorable time with the activities offered on the Island. In addition, this small island is unique for its beauty and for being a natural sanctuary with a wide variety of birds, fish and plants with which you can interact responsibly and enjoy unique experiences.

In Holbox a turquoise blue sea with little waves and depth awaits you as well as calm lagoons with warm waters where you can have a good time with some of the activities that you will find. In addition, this small island is unique for the beauty of its attractions and for being a natural sanctuary for a wide variety of birds, fish and plants with which you can interact and live unique experiences in a responsible way.

This phenomenon is present almost all year-round in Holbox, but in darkness and especially with a full moon you will be able to appreciate it better. The best observation months are from April to November. Additionally, in June, July and August you can also enjoy a whale shark adventure, therfore allowing you to live both experiences.

HOW TO GET TO HOLBOX

Chiquila is the port from where the ferries depart to cross over to Holbox Island. From there you will board a ferry for Holbox with a crossing time of approximately 30 minutes. Ferries leave every 30 minutes. Tickets can be only purchased at the departure pier. 

 The driving distance between Downtown Cancun and Chiquila, a small community in front of Holbox, is 139 km or 86miles, with a travel time of approximately 2 hours on a toll road. 

From the Cancun airport the distance is 144km or 89miles on a toll road with a travel time of approximately 1 hr, 50 mins. 

From Playa del Carmen to Chiquila the distance is 122km or 76 miles with approximately 1 hr 40 mins of travel time. 

From Tulum to Chiquila, the distance is 200 km or 121 miles with a drive time of approximately 3 hours on the highway. 

*If you arrive by car, which we don’t recommend, it must be parked in Chiquila at an appropriate rate of $100 MXN per day. Private cars cannot cross on the ferries. 
It is recommended to arrive by private transfer from the airport or ADO bus, www.ado.com.mx from downtown Cancun, Playa del Carmen or Tulum.
